For influenza virus to cause disease, it must make its way into the body’s cells, where it then multiplies and fills the cell with virus until it finally dies and the cell bursts, causing the virus to enter the bloodstream. The same is true for most other viral diseases, for example colds. But for viruses to enter the cell, it needs to stick to the surface of the cell. The virus particles are coated with small protein molecules with i.a. H-antigens – hemagglutinin, which binds to receptors on the cells, called receptors. It is when this has happened that the cell begins to produce exact copies of the virus.

  • The routes of infection are most often from hands to eyes and nose, as well as droplet infection from coughs and sneezes.
  • Hand hygiene is therefore important. . Wash hands frequently.
  • Cough in the elbow and not in the hands.
  • Avoid infecting others by close contact, especially the elderly and debilitated
  • Sick leave with clear symptoms. Do not be the hero who goes sick at work
  • Avoid air travel. If someone is on the plane with the flu, almost everyone will be infected.
  • Avoid being with many in enclosed spaces.
  • Strengthen the immune system. If it is strong enough, you can be infected, but not necessarily feel diseases. In epidemics, more than 90% became infected, but only 20-30% became ill.
  • Eat a healthy and varied diet as well as supplements so that the body gets everything it needs for its natural functions. The orthomolecular principle
  • Vegetables and fruits. Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, healthy fatty acids.
  • Take extra antioxidants. Among other things. Vitamins C, E and A, selenium and zinc.
  • Vitamin D3 is very important for the immune system and much more. It clearly increases the resistance to infections. Children of mothers with low D3 have a higher risk of bronchitis and pneumonia.

Influenza pandemics are almost gone in the summer. Sunshine on the skin causes a large production of vitamin D3 in the skin during the summer months. the rest of the year you should take supplements, preferably at least 100 micrograms daily (4,000 units) ..

Lack of vitamin D3 or low blood levels lead to greater sickness absence due to infections

Vitamin D3 counteracts the severe overreaction of the immune system (cytokine storm) which was a major cause of death in the Spanish flu and the current otherwise mild swine flu.

Vitamin D researcher Dr. With influenza, Canell recommends 50 micrograms (2,000 units) per kg of body weight daily for seven days.

Specialist Claus Hancke recommends at the onset of influenza vitamin D3 100,000- 140,000 IU or 2,500 – 3,500 µg or 65 – 92 pcs. D-Pearls strong 38µg at once if you get the flu. It takes 6-8 hours, then the temperature drops to normal.

If you are a little late in the process, supplement with Selenium 100µg 2 tablets 5 x daily and C-vit 1.5 grams 5 x daily.

The vitamin D3 dose can be taken three days in a row. Make sure you have things at home so they can be taken immediately.

Preventative, at least 100 micrograms of vitamin D3 daily. Harmless. ½-1 hour of sunshine in summer provides at least 250 mkg / 10,000 units

  • Longovital strengthens the immune system.
  • The same goes for Immolina, which is an extract of microalgae.
  • Avoid artificial chemicals in eg food, drink and cosmetics.
  • Ensure balance in a varied diet. It is not good to eat too much as it weakens the resilience.
  • Get adequate sleep.
  • Make sure you have healthy gut bacteria. Take supplements of probiotics, eg Vita Biosa or capsules, powders or lozenges with lactic acid bacteria, and avoid eating sugar, sweets, white bread etc.
  • Provide daily exercise (not too strenuous), preferably outside.
  • Avoid unnecessary stress as it weakens resilience. Plan properly and then be the rest of the time where you are, with your full attention.

One of the best remedies against the flu virus is elderberry extract – Sambucus nigri L. – which has always had a place in folk medicine against, among other things. colds and flu. Research in Israel and Norway, among others, has shown that elderberry extract (Sambucol R) can have a preventive effect against influenza, shorten the course of the disease and make it easier. Elderberries contain a substance that makes it impossible for the influenza virus to penetrate the walls of cells by preventing hemagglutinin from working. And when virus cannot enter the cell, it cannot multiply. If you start early in the disease with Sambucol, it will typically last only a few days, and the symptoms will be like a cold. As a relative or visitor, you may. completely avoid getting infected if you take Sambucol before visiting or treating an influenza sufferer.

Sambucol can be bought in Denmark as Sambucol Immuno Forte, which also contains vitamin C and zinc.

Another natural remedy that works in a similar way is Kan Jang, which consists of Russian root as well as Andrographis panniculata. Cranberries and other dark berries such as aronia, blueberries, cherries, etc. also contain substances, e.g. anthocyanins, which can prevent viruses from entering the cells.

Other good natural remedies are:

  • Wild mountain oregano (eg Oregano Resp.),
  • Garlic.
  • Echinacea
  • Olive leaf extract
  • Resveratrol
  • Spices

Vitamin C is a powerful antiviral and lethal in large doses. By infl. 1.5 to 2 grams 5 times a day for 3-4 days. Preventive ½-1 gram twice daily. There is not enough in the diet, nor in citrus fruits. One can enhance the effect of vitamin C up to 20 times by taking supplements of bio-flavonoids (the dyes in fruits and vegetables) at the same time. For example as C 500 + Rosehip + Bioflavonoids or Lemon.

In severe infections, 30-100 grams can be given directly into the bloodstream. it is harmless.

Pigs produce 10 grams of vitamin C a day. Humans cannot form it themselves, but must have it from the diet and supplements.

The mineral selenium is an important antioxidant

Zinc is important for more than 300 enzyme processes in the body

Iron deficiency weakens the immune system (children, adolescents and women). Too much also weakens due to oxidation (rancidity)

Water is an important antioxidant. Avoid fluid loss and dehydration, which easily happens due to sweat. Add the juice of two limes per liter of water.

Ginger tea, chamomile tea and linden tea are antiviral and counteract inflammation

Other means:

  • Chinese herbal medicine
  • Ayurvedic medicine
  • Homeopathic medicine
  • Colloidal Silver or Bionaid
  • Chicken soup. Counteracts inflammation and provides good nutrition. Counteracts mucus formation
  • Cough and fever. The best remedy for cough is dark chocolate (theobromine). More effective than codeine. The chocolate must contain at least 70% cocoa. Like more.

Fever is an important defense against viruses and bacteria. Do not knock it down if it is not above 40 degrees. Get rid of the duvet. Fresh, cold air.

During infections, you use more antioxidants, and since you often eat less, it is important to take extra supplements. Vitamin C is especially important, and in large doses it is a powerful antiviral and killing agent. One can, for example, take 1-2 grams every 3-4 hours. Usually it will cause diarrhea, but not when you need extra vitamin C, as with the flu. It is also good to take extra zinc and selenium.

Cough is often a problem with the flu. The best remedy for cough is dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa), which contains the substance theobromine. It works more effectively than codeine, which can cause constipation and suppress breathing.

It is not a good idea to beat the fever with medicine, as fever is one of our best defenses against viruses and bacteria, but if the temperature rises above 40 degrees, you have to increase your cooling. First of all, by taking off the duvet, settle for a sheet over instead and provide fresh air in the room.

Infection with influenza virus most often takes place by getting the virus on the hands of others and then scratching your eyes or poking your nose, thereby transmitting the virus.

Droplet infection from coughing and sneezing people with influenza is also contagious, especially in indoor climates. Cleanliness is therefore important, and people with the flu should avoid contact with especially the elderly and debilitated people and refrain from going to work. The incubation period – the time from infection to symptoms – is from 18 to 72 hours.
